The Ice Hotel in Jukkasjärvi, which each year is made up of natural ice, reduced emissions during transport and delivery by choosing local suppliers. They also work with LED lighting throughout. ACT is working actively to ensure that the activities offered in connection with an overnight stay at the ice hotel, are sustainable and do not harm the environment or the people who live around it. Including through wilderness experiences without the consumption of electricity or non-renewable fuels.
In order to further reduce our environmental impact ACT chosen to shorten the Hurtigruten starting in Harstad, instead of Kirkenes. In this way, our customers take the bus, powered by rapeseed oil, from Kiruna to Narvik, instead of flying from Kiruna to Kirkenes. Hurtigruten is working with a locally produced food concepts.
ION Hotel is a green track Iceland can put on their list. The hotel is built on recycled and renewable materials and draws its heat and power from the surrounding hot springs. In the restaurant of the hotel staff are working with the new environmental awareness of the phenomenon of the ”Slow Food”, which means nutritious food without any toxins, produced in an environmentally friendly manner. The restaurant is thus sure to serve local fresh ingredients with an emphasis on sustainable ingredients from the near surroundings.
